There's no debate: The most overrated playoff contender is the Texas Longhorns

It still isn't a perfect system.

There still remain questions about the validity of the College Football Playoff.

Most of our standings should be figured out after conference championship weekend. However, there's one ranking that doesn't sit right, and ESPN didn't waste much time figuring that out.

ESPN trolls Texas ranking with weak victories

Obviously, the big show coming up is Thanksgiving weekend in Kyle Field. There's going to be nothing less than a SEC championship on the line, and likely a college football playoff berth as well.

Until then, the Texas Longhorns are the No. 3 team in the country (unless they lose to Kentucky, of course). All thanks to a win against a below average Oklahoma team, a slightly-better-than-usual Vanderbilt team and a Michigan team who's not the same after last season's championship.

ESPN wasn't intending to roast UT here, but their graphics department made for a good laugh for other SEC football fanatics.

With the 38th ranking in strength of schedule, these aren't great wins to have on a resume for the No. 3 team in the land. This continues the "overrated" narrative for the Longhorns from before.

It's not just Texas's resume. It seems the committee has suddenly forgotten about Notre Dame's early season loss to Northern Illinois, who's in the middle of the pack in the MAC. SMU is the first team out despite BYU being their only loss of the season.

Texas was outmatched against Georgia for most of the time and lost by 15 points. It's not their fault that Florida, Michigan and Oklahoma weren't that good this season. However, in their biggest test of the season, Quinn Ewers got benched in the first half. Sure, he came back in the second half and looked much more efficient, but the damage by the Bulldogs was already on.

As an SEC team who's lost to Notre Dame, and a South Carolina team who's getting better every week, Texas A&M has the better resume with beating LSU and Missouri. The only reason why UT is as high as they are is because of their only loss to Georgia.

The best case for UT going forward is to beat Texas A&M to prove that being No. 3 is truly where they need to be.

For Texas A&M, all they need to do is get past Auburn and Texas and everything else is on the table. Obviously, all of that is easier said than done.
