Spring game factors to watch for Texas A&M football: How does Marcel Reed look behind retooled offensive line?

One of the chief complaints about Marcel Reed last season was indecision in throwing the ball. Against the final two opponents, the Reed from 2024's Arkansas game was back, as he missed timing windows to get the ball to open receivers over and over again.

Part of that was a scheme issue, as Miami and Texas didn't really run anything differently than what Missouri did, but a commitment to the veer run game in the second half up in Columbia calmed Marcel down quite a bit. With Holmon Wiggins at the helm, fans can hope that Reed will be a little more comfortable in the pocket— Wiggins seems committed to Reed using his legs in an increased capacity, at the very least.

Without the comfort of the extremely veteran offensive line that the Aggies had last year, though, things could also look rough for Reed this season. However, the work that the Ags did in the portal to pick up four SEC starters at offensive line, plus the magic touch of Adam Cushing's excellent coaching, could allay those fears pretty effectively.

Wiggins will no doubt refrain from giving too much away scheme-wise, but fans should keep an eye on how Marcel looks commanding the offense. Is he indecisive or on-time with his throws? How well does he adapt when things break down? How well can the offensive line hold up in the first place? These will all offer a sneak peek at how things may go in the 2026 season.
