The Lone Star Showdown is alive and well.

The build up has been enormous across College Station so far. The SEC title and a spot in the College Football Playoff is on the line this Thanksgiving weekend.

The Aggies come in losing a heartbreaker in quadruple overtime against Auburn. The team has moved on from that, and all they're focused on is a trip to Atlanta.

Here are three storylines to help get ready for the return of one of the greatest rivalries in the country.

1. Aggies have chance to break cold streak that's been around much too long

The Texas A&M Aggies come into this game with just one goal. Win and you're in the SEC Championship against Georgia.

The stakes have never been higher for a Texas-Texas A&M game.

Mike Elko has talked about the game within the game. That's keeping your composure and use your energy for the football game and not anything silly.

For the Longhorns, this is their first year in SEC play, but going to a conference title game is nothing new for them all. They just appeared in the Big 12 Championship game against Oklahoma State in 2023.

For the Aggies, this is historic territory that's been much too long in the making. Texas A&M's last appearance in a conference title game when they were in the Big 12 back in 1998. Guys on that team featured Shane Lechler, Dat Nguyen, Dante Hall, Sirr Parker, Branndon Stewart and Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell.

A win on Saturday night would be for much more than just bragging rights. It would be a surreal experience for all of those Aggie fans who haven't seen a conference championship appearance.
