Tracking every Texas A&M football player who has entered the transfer portal
Which Texas A&M football players have entered the transfer portal so far?
In this new world of college football, as Texas A&M football fans well know, the transfer portal is a big player when it comes to roster construction. The Aggies added in a huge way last year, which was needed given the fact that they also were losing a fair amount.
There is going to be some churn no matter what, but the Ags are hoping to hold on to most of their key pieces. There will be some guys who enter who you want to stay, of course, but for the most part this staff is hoping to keep the guys they want to have around while making space for some other additions.
Here is every Texas A&M football player who has announced that they will be entering the portal so far.
WR Cyrus Allen
The former LA Tech Bulldog contributed in spots, but wasn't quite the answer at receiver for Texas A&M football. Allen recorded 18 receptions for 269 yards in 10 games.
WR Micah Tease
A former signing-day flip from Arkansas, Tease saw a few snaps in 2023 but did not register any statistics this year. There was some thought he could contribute, but nothing ever materialized this year.
TE Jaden Platt
Another signing-day flip, Platt came in from Stanford. There was some excitement around his potential, but he never moved past guys like Theo Mehlin Ohrstrom, Tre Watson, or even Shane Calhoun.
OL Kam Dewberry
Dewberry saw a lot of action this year, but mostly as a reserve guard. This was a battle up until the end out of high school, but Dewberry never quite materialized into the starter that many though he would be.
OL Hunter Erb
Erb has a plus frame, but was unable to crack the rotation in his time in Aggieland. As A&M is bringing back so many OL, it makes sense that Erb is headed out in search of playing time.
OL Akinola Ogunbiyi
Ogunbiyi has a lot of years under his belt, but relatively few snaps. With limited eligiblity left, and prospects of contributing at A&M looking pretty dim, Aki is headed out.
QB Jaylen Henderson
Henderson excited Aggie fans with his dynamic play down the stretch of last season, but Reed ended up passing him up. He didn't see any snaps this year, but the tape he put together with A&M last year should be good enough to land him at a P4 school if the fit is right.
QB Conner Weigman
This is the biggest name on this list by far, but it was expected. Weigman was thought to be the future for a long time for Aggie football, but uneven play led to Marcel Reed passing him up. He has all the tools to be a star wherever he lands, but after the rocky road in College Station, the right fit is a must.
DE Malick Sylla
Sylla is another guy who flashed in spots, but never made the rotation regularly. This year, he fell behind Rylan Kennedy and Cashius Howell, and with both of those guys looking like they'll return, Sylla is headed out to find another spot to lend his talents.
DE Enai White
White's injury history prevented him from being a big contributor in College Station. He's got all the physical tools, but he had simply fallen too far on the depth chart here.
DE Josh Celiscar
Celiscar was one of the Aggies' adds in the spring portal last year. He recorded only one tackle this year, against McNeese State. The former UCF Knight will look to crack a depth chart elsewhere.
DT Samu Taumanupepe
This is a guy who many Aggie fans had as a potential contributor due to his unique frame. Samu is huge, and with the Ags lacking a true nose tackle, many thought he could be the answer. His lack of playing time said otherwise, however, and he will now look to contribute somewhere else.
DT Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy
I don't want to call Brownlow-Dindy a bust, but for one reason or another, he hasn't yet lived up to his five-star ranking from 2022. He has been hampered by injuries, to be sure, and has really caught fans' eyes when he's been on the field—but that's been in very limited snaps. He has what it takes to succeed, but he'll find somewhere else to do that at.
LB Martrell Harris
Harris came in with a lot of potential, but it never quite materialized. This was a make-or-break year for him, and he was unable to see the field in any significant capacity.
LB Chantz Johnson
A late add to the 2023 class, Johnson was a local kid from College Station. It was a story that a lot of Aggie fans took to, but Johnson was unable to get on the field in any capacity besides special teams. You hate to see a local guy like that head elsewhere, but the writing was on the wall.
