Texas A&M is looking to bounce back this weekend against the LSU Tigers after an embarrassing home loss to the Kentucky Wildcats, and it looks like the Tigers will be missing a huge weapon. Tight end Trey’Dez Green is one of the most potent weapons in the conference on the offensive side of the ball, and in Lane Kiffin’s offense, he can be even more of a matchup nightmare than normal— but after an injury that he sustained against Ole Miss last night, it looks like he will miss the game against the Aggies.
Green had to be helped off of the field last night against the Rebels after sustaining a huge hit from an Ole Miss safety, causing a lot of concern among Tiger fans. He did not return to the game, which was expected given how brutal the hit was— the question was only from that point whether he’d be able to return in the upcoming weeks.

Green’s mother took to social media to give an update on her son’s health, mentioning that he— thankfully— did not sustain any ligament damage in the game last night, but that he would “miss some games” after some “sprains and bruises.” Given that the Aggies are playing LSU this weekend, this all but ensures that Green will not be available in this pivotal contest— which is a huge deal for both sides.

Green is a towering pass-catcher who can both block and catch at a high level, and with the way that Kiffin’s offense can utilize the tight end, he was going to be the first name mentioned in players that Aggie fans needed to watch going into this one. However, it looks like that worry has been allayed for this Saturday’s game if Green’s mother’s report turns out to be true.
It should be said that this is not an official report from the team, but it’s hard to picture that this is some kind of Machiavellian ploy from Kiffin and company to lull the Aggies into a false sense of security. It beggars belief that Green’s mother would give out false information like this, so it’s safe to assume that hers is the most up-to-date information at this point.
It could be the case that the pain abates very quickly for Green and he plays Saturday, but that seems very unlikely at this point. While it won’t be simple in the slightest to defend LSU’s offense, this will make it that much simpler for an Aggie team that desperately needs a win.
Texas A&M, of course, is dealing with injury issues of their own— both KJ Edwards and Terry Bussey went down with injury against Kentucky, and Jamarion Morrow and Ashton Bethel-Roman didn’t even play due to injury. This evens the playing field a little bit between the Tigers and Aggies, then— and this is an A&M team that needs everything to go their way that possibly can at this point.
Hopefully, Green gets better soon— but from a schematic standpoint, the Aggie coaches have to be breathing a sigh of relief that they don’t have to game plan how to stop him this Saturday.
