Texas A&M recruiting ranking updates: Aggies have a shot at five-star-studded defensive backfield

Texas A&M currently boasts three five-star commitments in their 10-commit class, with the chance to add many more. While that is remarkable in and of itself, what is even more remarkable is that all three of those five-star commitments come from defensive backs.

Kamarui Dorsey, Raylaun Henry, and JayQuan Snell all have ascended to five-star status in the 247Sports Composite rankings, which means that the Aggies could potentially pull in a defensive backfield chock full of five-star talent. Texas A&M is the leader for the nation's top cornerback in John Meredith III, which would add a fourth five-star to this group.

If the Aggies are able to pull this off, trotting out a cornerback tandem of Meredith and Henry, then they'll continue to have one of the best pass defenses in the nation for years to come. Combine that with the excellent defensive line recruiting they've been doing— again, props to the staff for their early eval on Myels Smith— and this will be a defense that will be extremely difficult for any team to deal with.

Snell and Dorsey are an elite safety duo as well, both future NFL players without a doubt. The heavy-hitting Snell is on a rapid ascension to become one of the best players in the state of Texas, while Dorsey is doing his thing against the best the state of Georgia has to offer. Getting these two in the boat early was a massive accomplishment for this staff, and it's beginning to show up in a big way.
