Texas A&M football has long been considered one of the leaders for the nation's top corner in North Crowley CB John Meredith III. Meredith is a true lockdown corner who is not afraid to get physical, and the Aggies have been in on his recruitment as one of the premier teams since Mike Elko stepped foot on campus.

This Aggie staff has made the 2027 cycle a point of emphasis for years, and now those efforts are beginning to pay off in a big way. Meredith recently released his summer schedule of visits, and the Aggies are among the four teams that will receive an appearance from the best player in the country— though they'll have some major competition to wade through en route to a hopeful commitment to the maroon and white.

Texas A&M set to receive summer visit from nation's top corner, CB John Meredith III

Texas A&M will host Meredith on the weekend of June 12, the same weekend that they are hosting several other top rising talents in College Station.

Meredith was considered the top overall player in the nation until a recent rankings update had him slide down to the no. 2 spot, behind Texas Tech commit DL Jalen Brewster (who the Aggies are also pushing strongly for). It's splitting hairs a bit, as both players are cornerstone defenders of whichever team they end up choosing, but it's worth mentioning.

The Aggies' biggest competition here looks to be the Alabama Crimson Tide, as Meredith has long had an affinity for the program. Texas A&M seems to be the overall leader at this point, but weathering a visit to Tuscaloosa won't be easy— the same could go for a visit to Columbus. Ohio State has picked elite corners out of Texas before— Devin Sanchez in the 2025 class is a prime example.

If the Aggies can keep their lead through the month of June and pick up a commitment from Meredith, it will just be one more step towards building the nation's top overall class. Mike Elko and company have something really exciting going right now, and it's clear that elite players all over the nation want to be part of it.
