Texas A&M is taking the field for their game against the UTSA Roadrunners, and fans immediately noticed that a few key players were not dressed out for the game. Returning safety Dalton Brooks and transfer nickel back Jordan Shaw both walked onto Kyle Field without their pads on, signaling that they won't be playing against the Roadrunners.

There was no injury disclosure about either Brooks or Shaw in the press conference this week, nor have there been reports about either player getting hurt in practice, so it's hard to know what exactly this could mean. It's possible that something slipped under the radar, but if so, it doesn't appear to be anything serious.

Jerome Myles and Reuben Fatheree came out onto Kyle Field on crutches, and both Brooks and Shaw were walking freely, so if there is an injury, it would appear very minor. However, it could be something different.

Texas A&M will be without S Dalton Brooks and NB Jordan Shaw against UTSA

Brooks is certainly a loss against a UTSA team that will try to air the ball out versus the Aggies. Texas A&M has Marcus Ratcliffe and Bryce Anderson to play in the game, as well as Rashad "Tom Tom" Johnson, Jordan Pride, and Myles Davis, but you'd much rather have an experienced guy like Brooks.

It's possible, though anything but confirmed, that this could be a disciplinary measure related to the story regarding Brooks's arrest over the summer. I repeat: this is conjecture, but given that nothing was ever officially announced regarding discipline after this event, we could be seeing that discipline by virtue of him sitting out.

That would obviously preclude the worry of an injury, but it's still not ideal. Shaw would have been a backup to Tyreek Chappell, who will make his triumphant return to the A&M lineup after missing nigh all of last year with an injury.
