Tyler Onyedim has been drafted in the early third round of the NFL Draft and is headed to the Mile High City to play for the Denver Broncos. Onyedim will join up with a team that was the number one seed in the AFC last season, hoping to bolster the interior of their defensive line in a big way.

Onyedim ranked third for the Aggies in tackles for loss last season, registering 8.5 on the year. That is a huge number for an interior defensive lineman in particular, but with the way that Onyedim plays, it makes sense. His first step quickness stands out immediately, and is a big reason that he was such a quick riser up draft boards after last season.

Tyler Onyedim heads to Denver Broncos as third-round selection with 66th pick of 2026 NFL Draft

Onyedim was an instant-impact addition for Texas A&M football through the transfer portal this offseason, coming over from the Iowa State Cyclones. His quickness off the ball and ability to penetrate the line of scrimmage was invaluable when it comes to creating interior pressure, which is extremely difficult for quarterbacks to deal with.

He was a stalwart in run support, as well, holding his own against some of the best interior offensive linemen in the country. He helped anchor one of the nation's best defenses overall (though lack of depth up front led to some busts in the ground game later in the year).

Number 11 for the Aggies is now the 5th Texas A&M player to be chosen through the first three rounds of the NFL Draft, a higher number than many anticipated coming into the night. Texas A&M was ensured for three picks through this point, and Onyedim was hoping to sneak in the back half of the second round, but that was about it. This is a true testament to Mike Elko's development, especially given that several of these were transfer portal pickups.

Congratulations to Tyler and to the Broncos. Onyedim will be wrecking shop in the blue and orange soon enough.
