Texas A&M football week 12 rooting guide: Missouri at South Carolina

Mizzou is hanging on by a thread to their ranked status, while the Gamecocks have leapt onto the scene in a big way, showing up in the top 25 for the first time this year.

Reports are emerging that QB Brady Cook is actually expected to play in this one, despite a wrist injury and facing off against one of the best pass rushes in the nation. Doesn't seem like a winning strategy to me, but Eli Drinkwitz has always marched to the beat of a different drum.

This one is kind of a wash, all told. If Mizzou wins out, it doesn't really matter for A&M's chances at the SEC championship—they, too, have a very weak schedule and would be eliminated on the basis of that tiebreaker, not to mention A&M's head to head win if it came down to that—but having a ranked win is nice for the college football playoff selection committee.

Carolina can't threaten A&M's place in the SEC championship discussion, either, unless some pretty crazy stuff happens down the stretch. It's probably better for A&M, though, if Missouri comes out with a win—as unlikely as that may seem.
