Texas A&M football's 2026 recruiting class is set to finish as a top-five caliber group at the worst if they are able to keep the status quo, as the Aggies have assembled quite the lineup of talent in their commit list. Of course, when you have such a solid group committed, it's that status quo piece that can be the toughest part.
There have been several Aggie commitments who have come out and said that their respective recruitments are "shut down," connoting that they will not take other visits or entertain other offers— they're locked in with the Aggies. However, not every commit has taken that step— and some still have other schools hot on their heels.
Two of those commitment have been placed on "flip watch" by Rivals' Sam Spiegelman— and for those close followers of Aggie recruiting, this shouldn't be any surprise. Though Mike Elko and staff have the staying power to get these across the finish line, it won't be without a fight.
Rivals places two Texas A&M commitments on flip watch, but Mike Elko will keep steady hand
In the below post from X, Rivals was not subtle about showing that Kaeden "KK" Johnson and KJ Edwards, two A&M commitments, were top-of-mind when talking about flip watch:

This shouldn't be anything new for Aggie fans, of course, as it has been reported for some time that Auburn has been pursuing Johnson— where his father played— and news came down only days ago that Edwards planned on visiting Texas and LSU this fall.
This "flip watch" status doesn't necessarily mean that these players are on the verge of switching their commitments— as a matter of fact, I still feel pretty good about them both— but it's something to monitor, without a doubt. Edwards has clearly been higher on A&M throughout the cycle than many rival recruiting reporters have believed, and the Aggies were the first on the scene for Kaeden Johnson, which helped get his commitment in the first place.
The Aggies will have their work cut out for them if they want to keep this class without any slippage, but that should have been expected from the beginning with such an elite group. The Aggie staff has been ready for this for some time, and I trust them to get this across the finish line.
