Will Texas A&M football rise in the AP poll rankings today after upsets this weekend?
What will Texas A&M football be ranked in today's AP Poll?
Texas A&M football defeated New Mexico State last night to move to a record of 8-2 on the season. The Maroon and White ended up with a decisive victory on the scoreboard, even if they didn't quite look as crisp as fans would have hoped.
Still, a win is a win. Given that Georgia-Tennessee was happening concurrently, I'm not sure many of the voters will be docking the Aggies, as most attention was probably directed towards the Bulldogs and Volunteers.
Of course, given that the Vols lost, they will be falling in the rankings. Another upset happened late in the night, as no. 6 BYU fell to the now 4-6 Kansas Jayhawks. Coule the Aggies rise above either of these teams?
Tennessee will now have the same number of losses as the Aggies, but one of them is far worse in Arkansas. However, the Vols' best win is better than what A&M has, since Big Orange took down Alabama at home a few weeks ago.
BYU's best win is SMU, but there's not much else to speak of in their record. They do have only one loss, but we've seen pollsters and the CFP committee rank the Aggies ahead of some one-loss teams if the schedules are a mismatch.
I'm going to hedge my bets a little bit here and say that the Aggies rise one spot in the rankings, up to 14 in the poll. I could see them bumping up to 13 if both the Cougars and Vols freefall, but I'm not sure that happens.
