Texas A&M football is already making some great headway in the 2027 recruiting class right now, as the Aggies have already grown their list of commits to four— and they have plenty more names trending their way. With the depth of high-end talent in the Lone Star State for that cycle, the Aggies are positioning themselves really well right now.
Even when it comes to out-of-state recruits, however, the Aggies are doing a great job right now. The Aggies' four-man class is currently made up of three out-of-state recruits and one in-state talent, as Mike Elko and this staff don't hesitate to go national when they need to.
That strategy continues to pay off, as it looks like they may be on the verge of landing a top-shelf talent from outside the state of Texas. With one of the top 20 players in the nation recently announcing his commitment date, the Aggies are all of a sudden trending in a big way.
Texas A&M trending to land top-20 player Raylaun Henry out of Maryland
A pick came in this morning over on 247Sports for Texas A&M to land CB Raylaun Henry out of Baltimore, MD, one of the best players in the country. 247 has Henry ranked as the third-best cornerback in the country and the 18th overall player, well within five-star range.
Henry recently announced a commitment date, eyeing Saturday, November 15 for his announcement.Texas A&M is scheduled to play South Carolina that day, so if you see Henry's name pop up on a visit list for that date, it could be a giveaway.
These sort of crystal ball picks are by no means a sure thing, but this is a really encouraging sign for Texas A&M. The Aggies are also trending in a big way for Rivals' recently-named top overall recruit in CB John Meredith— if they were able to land both players, it would be the definition of a shutdown defensive backfield.
There's work yet to be done, but this recruiting staff for Mike Elko is absolutely on fire right now. If they get this one over the finish line, as well as a few others scheduled to announce soon, they could be an early favorite for the top overall class in 2027.
