South Region
No. 2 Kentucky – First Round Matchup: No. 15 Northern Kentucky
The Aggies played the Wildcats twice in 2017. Both times they were defeated by the perennial powerhouse, first 100-58 and most recently 71-63. The good guys were neck and neck with Kentucky midway through the second half, but a terrible performance from the charity stripe would ruin any chances of an upset. They shot 12-25 from the line.
No. 3 UCLA – First Round Matchup: No. 15 Kent State
The Bruins spent a good amount of time in the top 15 this season but were given quite a challenge from the Aggies. UCLA edged Texas A&M 74-67 in the Championship Game of the Wooden College Classic.
No. 8 Arkansas – First Round Matchup: No. 9 Northwestern
The Razorbacks made it to the SEC Tournament finals. They edged the Aggies twice in 2017, 62-60 and 86-77. Arkansas was thought to be on the bubble, but they took care of business in the SEC Tournament and they were rewarded with an NCAA berth.
