Texas A&M Players to Watch

What can’t Braden Shewmake do? In a season brimming with offensive struggles this young freshman is playing with his hair on fire, and his bat. He leads the nation in hits (39) and tops the Aggie lineup in what feels like every major statistical category.

More from Gig Em Gazette

Shewmake was just recently rated the third best second baseman in the country by D1 baseball, and he’s only a freshman. Aggies are just now starting to realize how lucky they are that this guy came to school at all. He’s going to have to have another good weekend for the Aggies to steal a series on the road.

Vanderbilt Players to Watch

Infante leads a struggling Vanderbilt offense offense and the gap between him and their next best hitter isn’t even close. His .376 batting average is more that 50 points better than Will Toffey, and that pair are the only every day players hitting above .300.

The rare combination of power and plate discipline make Infante a dangerous hitter. His strikeout to walk ratio (17:18) is nearly even and his on base percentage sits at a staggering .480. If the Aggies can get Infante out consistently they’ll be well position to handle the remainder of the Commodore lineup.
