Game 3: Ole Miss defeats Texas A&M 6-3
The Rebels struck early, taking a 2-0 lead in the first inning on Sunday and not looking back. A sac fly from Ryan Olenek was followed by Colby Bortles scoring on a pick off attempt. Ole Miss pushed the lead to five with a three run eighth inning courtesy of a pair of home runs.

Texas A&M’s scoring would be too little, too late. Logan Foster, Jorge Gutierriez and Nick Choruby would pick up single RBI, but the Aggie scoring threat never materialized. For the second consecutive weekend the Aggies found themselves on the wrong end of an SEC series.
Bottom Line
Any hope this team had of earning a host bid is gone now. Texas A&M baseball brought themselves back from the dead with a white-hot month of April. The month of May has not been as kind, neither has the state of Mississippi. There’s no changing the past now, but the taste of the past few weekends will linger for a few days.
This is a good baseball team, but they have some noticeable imperfections. When they play error-free baseball they can compensate for rough days at the plate. But on the days when the hits aren’t falling one bad bounce can swing a series. That happened this weekend, and it happened last weekend. The Aggies have two options now: clean up the fielding, or hit the cages. Either way there is work to be done before they hit the road for postseason play.
