Texas A&M Football, 5-Star 2022 Prospect No. 2: DL Shemar Stewart

It looks like Jimbo Fisher is pretty happy with his freshman 5-star defensive lineman Shemar Turner because he’s back on the recruiting trail trying to secure a commitment from another defensive lineman named Shemar. This time around, it’s Shemar Stewart.

Yes, I will make that joke every single time I talk about Shemar Stewart.

No matter where you look, Stewart is ranked as a top ten prospect in his class. Per 247Sports, he’s considered the 8th-best overall and the 3rd-best defensive lineman.

At 6’5″ and 265 pounds, which may even be slightly outdated measurements, Stewart could join an NFL roster today and he wouldn’t look out of place at all. This is the same prospect who was allegedly confused for a college senior when he was a freshman in high school.

To go along with his natural athleticism, Stewart has one of the largest wingspans of any high school recruit at over 80 inches. His length clearly gives him a leg up at the point of attack that can’t be taught.

In his last full season of football, he recorded 15 sacks as a sophomore in high school. He likely will not have any problems adjusting to the college level, much like the Shemar currently on Texas A&M’s defensive line.
