Traces of Texas A&M football is seen throughout the entire NFL. From NFL superstars like Myles Garrett to recent draft picks like Isaiah Spiller, the Aggies have a track record of sending its players to the professional level almost every year.

One of those recent players was former Aggie and third-round pick Kellen Mond. Mond enjoyed a very eventful college career at Texas A&M, where he produced greatly. In his four-year collegiate career in College Station, he racked up 9,661 passing yards, 1,609 rushing yards, 93 total touchdowns, and 27 interceptions.

Mond holds multiple passing records at Texas A&M, and whether fans love him or not, he goes down as an Aggie legend. He was selected as the 66th overall pick to the Minnesota Vikings in the 2021 NFL Draft, and after just over one year, the Vikings have decided to move on from the signal-caller.

Former Texas A&M football star quarterback Kellen Mond has been waived by the Minnesota Vikings.

Mond had an up-and-down preseason this year to say the least. In Week 1, Mond looked impressive. He finished 9/14 and two touchdowns against the Raiders and nearly led a comeback win in Las Vegas. He looked poised, and more accurate than in the past.

However, that didn’t last long. In Week 2, Mond threw 10/20 and two interceptions against the San Francisco 49ers. After another poor performance in Week 3, where the former Aggie looked a little better throwing 10/17, the Vikings have seemingly seen enough and waived him early Tuesday morning.

After the new Vikings regime traded for Nick Mullens earlier this month, it seemed like the writing was on the wall. Minnesota wasn’t happy with what they had seen from their 2021 third-round pick, and they opted to go with a more veteran backup. It is unclear whether they would like to stash him on the practice squad or not if he clears waivers, but if any team wants, they can scoop him up at the cost of taking on his contract.
