Players to watch for Texas A&M
Daymion Sanford
The Aggie captain and top linebacker has had a slow season due to an injury in the spring game, but he should be ready for a full go in this one— which the Aggies desperately need. South Carolina boasts one of the best run games in the country thanks chiefly to the combo of LaNorris Sellers and Kendal Briles, so Sanford and Mikhail will have a huge task on their hands. Sure tackling is the name of the game here.
KJ Edwards
Carolina is more susceptible through the air than they are on the ground, but Edwards might just be good enough to make that a moot point. Before getting banged up against Alabama, he looked like he was about to have a breakout day against a tough Tide front, so if he can find some creases, it will allow this A&M offense to operate at a high level.
Mario Craver
It's time for no. 1 to be a true no. 1. The Gamecocks can be had in the deep passing game, and Craver has the speed to get behind their defense with regularity. Mario was extremely limited against SC last year, and not having him was a big part of why A&M fell behind so much early on— we'll see if he can make a big impact here, not only through going deep, but the screen game as well.
Players to watch for South Carolina
LaNorris Sellers
I had Sellers in my top five quarterbacks in the SEC in the preseason, and I felt foolish for doing so through the first six weeks. But he's bounced back in a huge way and is operating like the weapon that we knew he could be— if the Aggies aren't able to be sure tacklers when chasing him down, then they're going to be in for a long day.
Mazeo Bennett
Nyck Harbor gets a lot of the press thanks to his five-star pedigree, but Bennett may be the Gamecocks' most clutch receiver when all is said and done. He missed last year, but is back and leading the team in receiving yards in 2026— he'll be good for some catches to frustrate Aggie fans in third-and-long situations.
Dylan Stewart
Stewart doesn't get the same kind of national love that Colin Simmons does, but he's probably a better pure defensive end. He's an absolute terror coming off of the edge, as Aggie fans saw last year in the first half of their game, so Texas A&M had better come into this game with a solid plan on how to slow him down enough for Marcel Reed to operate— a slim chance, but you have to try.
