It's playoff time and beyond for Texas A&M football, starting this weekend
The Aggies have to show us nothing but dominance this upcoming weekend.
New Mexico State is known as the worst team in Conference USA, but Texas A&M has to ignore that.
The SEC Championship and more for Aggie football starts now.
Mike Elko: There's no room for error
Mike Elko was adament about the penalties and mistakes that limited the Aggies in their loss against South Carolina.
Elko is trying to get his boys riled up starting against New Mexico State, as he should. Elko implies his team has to treat this weekend and beyond like an elimination contest.
"We don't have any margin for error, so there's nothing to get ahead of. Our playoffs start Saturday," Elko said.
Yes, New Mexico State might be one of the worst teams in college football this year, but the Aggies have to stay on the gas pedal for what might be another brutal night matchup at Jordan-Hare.
"Our ability to accomplish everything we want to accomplish requires a tremendous amount of focus, that starts Saturday at home," Elko said.
The Aggies have to show that they are strong against New Mexico State. All gas, no brakes. Make a statement in the first quarter.
Texas A&M pretty much controls their own destiny. If they depend on Tennessee and Georgia to beat each other along with beating Texas at the end of the season, an SEC Championship berth is in their hands.
Obviously, easier said than done, but if the Aggies focus like they're supposed to, everything is really right in front of them. The mental mistakes and the penalties are not going to cut it.
Elko and the coaching staff need to get Amari Daniels ready to start for the rest of the season. Expect EJ Smith to get more reps too.
