Texas A&M has released their initial injury report for this Saturday’s game against LSU, and there’s some definite good news on there. While Terry Bussey is listed as out, as was confirmed by Elko this past Monday, there is no appearance on the report of star freshman running back KJ Edwards.

Edwards was one of the highest-rated signees of this past cycle for the Aggies, and only three games into the season, his burst when he touches the ball stands out in a huge way to Aggie fans— so much so that many are calling for him to be the starter, or at least receive the same number of snaps as Rueben Owens. It seemed like the plan was to involve him pretty heavily this past Saturday, but Elko mentioned after the game that Edwards had gone down with an injury and was unable to play the second half.
The Monday presser provided no further information on Edwards’ status; Elko said it was too early in the week to make any sort of definitive statement one way or the other on Edwards and others, but now that the report has been released, it looks like KJ will be good to go this Saturday. That’s a huge relief to Aggie fans, especially with Jamarion Morrow still appearing on this list as “questionable.”

Morrow’s status was another point of curiosity among Aggie fans going into this game, as he missed the Kentucky game with injury. After Edwards went down, it meant that the running back depth was made up of only Rueben Owens and Carsyn Baker— so getting at least one (preferably both) of them back before this game in Death Valley was a must.
We’ll have to wait and see on Morrow, who has been battling something even when he’s been available this season. He just hasn’t showed the same explosion that he did last year yet, and Elko has mentioned that he sustained something in fall camp that has been lingering.
The other player that appears on the report for the Aggies is Ashton Bethel-Roman. ABR hasn’t done a heck of a lot for the Aggies so far this year, but he made a couple of big catches against the Tigers last season. A&M needs him to be in top form sooner rather than later, especially with Bussey now out for the season— so getting him back for this game against the Tigers would be a huge boon.
Marcel Reed really needs his full complement of offensive weapons to help him fire on all cylinders. You hate for this game in Death Valley— one of the toughest places to play in the nation— to be a “get-right” game for Reed, but he has feasted against the Tiger defense each of the last two seasons.
It’s been the run game that has helped him achieve those high marks in his two games against the Tigers, and having Edwards in the stable will definitely aid the Aggies on that front. We’ll see if he can do the same this year— having Edwards back, as well as the potential of Morrow and Bethel-Roman, is the dream for A&M fans, but it looks like they’ll have to sweat out the latter two.
