Texas A&M's recruiting momentum in the 2027 cycle is getting to the point where it is going to be impossible to stop. The Aggies are in an extremely enviable position right now, having built up their class to be one of the best in the nation all while only boasting fifteen commitments.

That's a lower number than either of the two teams below them— no. 2 Oklahoma sits at 21 commitments, and no. 3 Notre Dame has 17. Miami has 15 as well, but their overall rating still pales in comparison to that of the Aggies right now.

The recent move by the highly-recruited five-star safety out of Georgia, Kamarui Dorsey, was a big one for the Aggies in this cycle— when big name players like that begin to make it clear they are fully locked in, it gets the attention of other big name players. It looks like Dorsey may have started a domino effect, as another A&M commitment just shut down his recruitment.

Texas A&M class ringleader Kaden McCarty shuts down recruitment

Edge rusher Kaden McCarty, one of the longest-tenured Aggie commits, as well as one of the most vocal on social media, has announced that he, too, is shutting down his recruitment in favor of the Aggies:

The Cy-Falls product has been loud in his support of the Aggies ever since committing, and he has been unafraid to go after other recruits that he wants to join up with the class. He's ranked as the no. 110 player in the nation per ESPN, while Rivals and 247 have some catching up to do.

McCarty joins Zyron Forstall as edge rusher commitments for the Aggies in this class, and both have the chance to do some great things in this cycle. Forstall has the five-star pedigree, but McCarty is a little bit slept-on, maybe due to his smaller frame at this point in his career.

Regardless, this is a clear example of the domino effect that we've begun to see, started by Dorsey's announcement a few days ago. No doubt other Aggie commitments will join in before long, and this will soon become a major trend throughout the class— we saw this phenomenon with last year's class as well.

This is the kind of momentum the Aggies need headed into a massive official visit weekend in College Station. Maybe the most consequential official visit of the entire summer is slated to take place in the next few days, as the nation's top corner in John Meredith is coming to town.

That one is big due to it being a battle between Texas A&M and the Longhorns, as the Aggies try to close out their star-studded secondary class in style. Announcements like these will only serve to help the Aggies' chances in those kinds of recruitments, as talent continues to attract talent.

The more players we see do this, the lesser the chances of a later flip are. That means that the Aggies are headed in one distinct direction: domination of the recruiting rankings by the time everything shakes out.
