Latest commit pushes Texas A&M’s recruiting heater to never-before-seen heights

I don’t think even the most optimistic Texas A&M football fan had this in mind for the past two days.

We have rarely, if ever, seen something like what Mike Elko and this Texas A&M football staff have just pulled off over the last few days. The recruiting game can be complex at times, but sometimes it’s all about momentum— and the Aggies have an unbelievable amount of momentum right now.

It started with the commitment of linebacker Aston Whiteside two days ago. A three-star defender out of the Dallas area, Whiteside had put enough intriguing things on tape for the Aggies to pursue him hard, and they were able to close the deal very quickly.

Then, one of the Aggies’ top-rated targets followed suit the next day when edge rusher Fredrick Ards pledged to Texas A&M over Florida, FSU, and others. This one in particular was a massive win for Texas A&M, who came from behind to end up winning out for Ards, who joins Kaden McCarty and Zyron Forstall as edge rusher commits in this class.

Texas A&M gains four commitments in two days as recruiting becomes white-hot

Two commitments in two days is enough to catch anyone’s eye, but the Aggies were far from done. Last night, West Boca Raton ATH Loia Valade chose Texas A&M over Miami, Auburn, Florida, and others teams— another diamond in the rough player whose offer list far outdoes his three-star ranking.

Three commitments in such a short span? Now that’s enough to really have Texas A&M fans buzzing. But, unbelievably, the story doesn’t even end there.

We’ve talked a lot about what Texas A&M could accomplish in this upcoming 2027 class, where they are closing in on the top-ranked recruiting class in the cycle, but the Aggies don’t have a commit yet in the 2028 class. Or, should I say, they didn’t yet, as that changed late last night.

One of the top names in the 2028 class— in more ways than one— is now committed to Texas A&M, as Louisiana edge rusher Chance Archangel committed to the Aggies last night, making it four commits in two days for Mike Elko and company. Archangel is the second-ranked player in the state of Louisiana and is currently rated as a four-star player entering his junior season.

It’s hard to think of another time when the Aggies’ recruiting has had such mojo, and that’s a really positive sign for some of the other recruitments that Texas A&M fans will be following. Guys like Kaden Henderson, Albert Simien, and John Meredith have no doubt taken notice of what’s going on down in Aggieland, and they will be feeling the pull to jump in and join what Mike Elko is building.

Texas A&M has another huge official visit weekend coming up, with the aforementioned Henderson as well as players like Joshua Dobson all coming to College Station. Can they continue to build on this momentum? You shouldn’t count out Elko and the Aggies in the slightest on that front.

This is a weekend that has not only bolstered the already-prodigious chances for Texas A&M to land the top class in 2027, but set a really solid foundation for the 2028 class. If the Aggies can continue to build in both cycles, we could be looking at the foundation of a national championship very soon.
