Texas A&M has been the big story of the 2027 recruiting cycle so far, without a doubt. The Aggies have landed massive target after massive target, knocking the early part of this recruiting calendar out of the park— and they are barreling straight for a finish that is better than any Aggie fan would have imagined.
This is thanks to the vision, precision, and calculation of Mike Elko and the staff that he has put together, make no mistake. The head man for the Aggies has turned the Texas A&M program into a recruiting machine, able to land some of the nation's best talent and keep them committed.
Every piece of this recruiting process has been meticulously planned, including the official visit weekends for the Aggies. With one huge one behind them, this upcoming couple of days features another massive slate— including two key names that show Mike Elko isn't satisfied to rest on his laurels with the amazing class they already have.
Texas A&M set to host two massive 5-star targets in huge official visit weekend
The first domino that could fall this weekend is that of five-star linebacker Kaden Henderson. The Tampa, Florida native is coming off of a big time visit to Miami, who is on a recruiting heater of their own right now, but he made it out of Coral Gables uncommitted.
Henderson now heads to College Station, where he has been predicted to land by recruiting experts for quite some time, and the Aggies will be looking to close the deal. Mike Elko may have timed this perfectly, as the Ags just hosted two linebacker prospects last weekend— Aston Whiteside and Mikahi Allen— and made major moves for both.

Whiteside ended up committing, and Allen is trending heavily towards the Aggies at the moment. We could easily be looking at a situation where Henderson is on campus understanding that his commitment would be the crowning piece to the linebacker class for the Aggies in 2027, alongside two heavy-hitters that would complement his skillset to a T.
The other big time uncommitted five-star that will be in town for the Aggies this weekend is Joshua Dobson. The nation's second-ranked cornerback is currently a big time battle between Texas A&M, Michigan, and the in-state South Carolina Gamecocks, but many consider the Aggies to have the inside track here.
The thing that is fascinating to watch in the case of Dobson is the interplay of his recruitment and that of John Meredith. Texas A&M already has three five-star defensive backs committed in Jayquan Snell, Kamarui Dorsey, and Raylaun Henry, so it's hard to imagine both Dobson and Meredith jumping in with the Aggies.
Is this a situation where the Aggies will simply say yes to whichever is ready to commit first? It's hard to imagine turning either player down, but these two sit in different places at this point. The Aggies led for Meredith for quite some time, but Texas made a move a couple of weeks ago that was pretty notable, leading to experts flipping their predictions.
However, the Aggies hosted Meredith last weekend, and made a lot of headway in the process. Meredith now heads to Austin while Dobson will be in College Station— it looks like clarity will be coming soon. Regardless, it seems like the Aggies will have a big name joining them either way.
This is all evidence of Elko's master planning for this cycle. As his vision comes to fruition, Texas A&M inches ever-nearer to not only the number one class this year, but possibly of all time.
