Texas A&M outlasted and outmuscled LSU to the nth degree in Tiger Stadium this past Saturday, sending the Tigers into an identity crisis that ended up with them firing their head man in Brian Kelly. The beatdown was so bad and so embarrassing for the Tigers that it has caused their fanbase to begin to completely spiral— and even former players are feeling compelled to do something.
The Aggies have become so prolific late in games thanks not only to the culture that Mike Elko has instituted in College Station, but the strength and conditioning program that has been put in place by industry legend Tommy Moffitt. Moffitt came to Texas A&M from LSU after Brian Kelly dismissed him upon his hiring— a move that was manifestly unpopular and came back to bite them in a huge way.
Now, with the Aggies looking like a team that has a physicality and an edge that LSU currently lacks, the Tiger fanbase, including alumni of the football program, are desperate to get Tommy Moffitt back. While there is next to no shot that he leaves College Station after the way he was treated in Baton Rouge, it won't stop some former players from trying— including Leonard Fournette.
Former LSU RB publicly pleading with Tommy Moffitt to return after Texas A&M dominates Tigers
Fournette, the prolific former LSU running back who is still clearly not over the Aggies' victory, tweeted this out:
Tommy moffit if I have to pay you’re ass to come back I will come on home coach

Not content with a simple tweet, he decided to ring Moffitt up over FaceTime and make his case directly to the man:
Hold up on a important call……. pic.twitter.com/cVGtTIdVw5

While this is definitely entertaining, this is not going to happen. The respect that clearly exists between Elko and Moffitt, as well as the alignment between his philosophy and the football program in general, has produced some beautiful synchronicity and has been a huge factor in this team's success.
LSU will no doubt want him back, and whoever they hire will make a massive run at him. But it's too little, too late— Moffitt is with the Aggies for the long haul at this point, as long as Mike Elko is in town.
