While Texas A&M football will be playing a highly consequential game on the road against Notre Dame this weekend, one of their highest-rated commitments will be visiting a dire rival.

Texas A&M turned a lot of heads earlier in the summer when they picked up the commitment of elite running back KJ Edwards out of Carthage, Texas. Many Texas fans thought they led for Edwards right up until he tweeted out his commitment, leading to some shock among the burnt-orange-clad.

Edwards combines with Jonathan Hatton, Jr, to give the Aggie commit class the best pair of running backs in the nation for this upcoming cycle— but the other teams in this recruitment haven't stopped pushing since Edwards declared for the Ags. Instead, as we found out a few weeks ago, Edwards is set to visit both Texas and LSU— and the latter will have him on campus for their game against Florida this weekend.

LSU pushing to put KJ Edwards on flip watch as he visits Baton Rouge this Saturday

Rivals put out a post today discussing how LSU is still attempting to come on strong for Edwards with this visit:

However, I don't think Aggie fans should be worried. Edwards's dad has done what he can to put the flip rumors to rest, and it sounds like these visits have been planned for quite some time.

Ultimately, just like always, it will come down to the Aggies notching some big wins on the field to keep a guy like Edwards in the fold. Texas A&M can do that this weekend with their contest at Notre Dame— it could be a tenure-defining win for Mike Elko if they pull it off.

Still, you'd rather he didn't visit the Tigers— but in big time recruiting, this is the kind of thing you have to weather. Hopefully the Aggies can get through this one alright.
