Marcel Reed forming unexpectedly intimidating tandem with newcomer receiver

The next big duo in the Maroon and White could be one that no one thought was coming.

Texas A&M football is looking to establish a new dominant quarterback and receiver tandem now that KC Concepcion has moved on to the NFL as a potential high-round pick. Most assumed that would be between the returning Marcel Reed and Mario Craver, who broke out more than anyone expected in 2025, and that is still more than likely to happen— but with a few receiver injuries in spring ball, a new target is emerging.

The hype is slowly beginning to build for true freshman signee Aaron Gregory, who was patently underrated coming out of high school, even despite all the hype he did receive. With both Ashton Bethel-Roman and Terry Bussey missing some time, it could be a big opportunity for Gregory to show his stuff— and the Texas A&M social media accounts are doing their part to build some hype for him.

Texas A&M true freshman Aaron Gregory could be name to watch in spring game and into fall camp

Texas A&M football has been posting quite a few highlights on social media of Gregory, who is donning number three this spring after Bethel-Roman's change to the number seven jersey:

By all accounts, he's a smooth route runner, a competitive catch guy, and great with the ball in his hands. He's really the whole package at receiver, which makes his fade in the rankings as signing day approached last season look really questionable.

Rankings only matter insofar as they reflect reality, though, and the reality apparently is that Gregory will be a big piece of this offense sooner rather than later. He may not start over guys like Mario Craver and Isaiah Horton, but he's going to push for reps if these early indications are anything to go by.

If nothing else, there will be a heck of a lot of Aggie fans looking for the no. 3 jersey during Saturday's Maroon and White spring game. Gregory will have a chance to really make an impression during that time, and I have a feeling he will avail himself of the chance.
