Texas A&M football fans have been waiting on intel to hear who may be the big surprise newcomer of spring camp, and there's one name that has begun to come out from all sides: freshman receiver Aaron Gregory. A player who committed to Texas A&M after a visit for the 2024 LSU game, Gregory has all the potential in the world, and it looks like, early on, he's delivering on that potential.

JD PicKell of On3 mentioned Gregory as a name he's been hearing a lot as a national guy, and that lines up well with much of what program insiders have been saying up until this point. PicKell points out his versatility in particular, mentioning that he can be lined up all over the place in Holmon Wiggins's system— something that demonstrates how well he's picked that system up since coming to campus only months ago.
Texas A&M football's Aaron Gregory ready to defy recruiting rankings with massive spring
Gregory was a way under-ranked player by the time signing day came around, but fans always knew his potential. He suffered the curse of early headlines, as he became one of the best-known players in the class when he was still very young— and as he got older, he was old news to some of the industry insiders.
Despite putting up massive numbers and looking like a college-ready player even during his junior year, his recruiting ranking steadily fell from five-star territory all the way to fringe top-100 status. If what is being said about him early on is true, though, then he's about to show the world that they've far underestimated his ability.
Gregory's emergence couldn't have happened at a better time, either. Just recently, Texas A&M has had two players at the position go down with injury, leaving them shorthanded. If Gregory is able to be a meaningful contributor, though— and it sounds like he can— then it helps soften that blow a bit.
Don't be surprised to see Gregory get some run this year, no matter how quickly Ashton Bethel-Roman and Terry Bussey get back from their respective ailments. It's sounding like there's not much that can keep him off the field early in his A&M career.
