Texas A&M football's Marcel Reed is looking to have a huge season in 2025. The Aggies' new starting quarterback has quite a bit to prove to the conference and the nation after having been slept on nearly all of this offseason, and the road to gaining that respect begins in just over ten days when the Aggies take on UTSA.
Marcel has not really been given his due at this point, maybe thanks to the rough first half of the season he had or possibly the record of the Aggies down the stretch. In any case, given some of the numbers that Marcel was putting up in the second half of the year, he should be far more highly thought of right now than he currently is.
With a lot of attention on a few quarterbacks the Aggies will see this year in LaNorris Sellers, Garrett Nussmeier, DJ Lagway, and Arch Manning, Reed has been a bit overlooked. His dad took to social media upon seeing maybe the most blatant example of this kind of disrespect to let everyone know what the score is.
Marcel Reed's dad reacts to blatant oversight in top 25 quarterback rankings: 'The disrespect continues'
An account on X called 'Week-to-week CFB' has been doing a lot of top rankings in the leadup to the season, and the most recent ranking to drop was the quarterbacks. With Reed nowhere to be found on this top list— really, an egregious oversight— Marcel's dad responded pretty confidently:

Reed is one of the top-10 returning quarterbacks in the nation when it comes to QBR, so he should definitely not have been left off of this list. That's even factoring in the lower level of play we saw at the beginning of the season before he took a big jump later on.
Reed will have to go out and earn some respect nationally this season, even though he really did more than enough last year to do so. Perceptions are often very far from reality, and it looks like that is clearly the case with so many sleeping on Ma
