Mike Elko announces Scooby Williams will return to Aggieland next year; Florida transfer was key piece of Texas A&M football defense in 2024
Texas A&M football is having a banner day when it comes to personnel on the roster. Today, of course, is the first of the early signing period, and all of the Aggies' commits have signed. It was a pretty drama-free day on that front, which is a relief, given how Texas in particular was attempting to snag some of A&M's players.
The news yesterday was a big boost as well. Will Lee, the Aggies' best defensive back this year, announced that he would be back for 2025, providing more stability for A&M's secondary.
For a team that dealt with so much turnover during the offseason, keeping some big contributors like that will be helpful. Lee's return will prove to be huge not only when it comes to consistency in the roster, but also high-quality play: no. 26 will have a shot at an all-SEC team when all is said and done.
Now, another big time contributor will be joining him. In his press conference today for national signing day, Mike Elko revealed that Scooby Williams, the Florida LB transfer, will be coming back for 2025 as well.
Williams quickly became a fan favorite for his sure tackling, athletic play, and off-field demeanor. The man who wears number zero is always a fun interview, and he really came on strong near the end of the year on the field.
This is yet another boost to the Aggies' 2025 roster. The greater the continuity, the better this team will be going forward.
