With Myles Garrett moving to the Rams this offseason, hopes are high in Los Angeles that they can make another run at a Super Bowl, getting the former no. 1 overall pick his first ring after years of fruitless toil in Cleveland— and with this latest announcement, those odds just got a whole lot better.
As has been rumored for quite some time, Aaron Donald, the legendary defensive tackle for the Rams, has decided to un-retire and join LA on a one-year deal, reportedly worth up to $30 million. Donald, a Pitt product, was one of the most feared defensive tackles in the league when he played, so this announcement no doubt sent a chill down the spine of every team in the NFC.
Compounding that is the fact that Donald, the best defensive player in the league only a few years ago, will be joining up with the unquestionable current best defensive player in the league in Myles Garrett. The now-two-time defensive player of the year and current record-holder for most sacks in a single season, Garrett's powers just got all that much more potent with this announcement— and every other team in the NFL had better watch out.

Myles was one of the only truly threatening pieces on the Cleveland defense last year, meaning teams could dedicate a lot of attention to stopping him when they were playing the Browns. Even so, he still managed to break a previously-considered-unbreakable record when he bested Michael Strahan's single-season mark in sacks.
Let me say that again: Garrett was the best part of a far-from-stacked defense, and he still was able to have his way with opposing offensive lines. Just think about what the addition of an Aaron Donald will do now for Myles' ability to get to the quarterback!
It's a true pick-your-poison decision for opposing teams, now: Donald's pass-rush ability from the interior of the defensive line is extremely deadly, but Garrett is one of the best edge rushers in league history. Who do you want to choose to block? Teams won't be able to neutralize both through the course of a game— heck, even when teams were facing Garrett essentially alone, they couldn't neutralize him.
Does this mean that Myles is about to break his own record for single-season sacks that he just set? That feels far-fetched— but not nearly as far-fetched as it did before this announcement. He's proven he still has what it takes, after all, as recently as last year, and with a weapon like Donald beside him, offensive lines won't stand a chance.
This also increases the chances for what Aggie fans have long hoped for with Myles: that he gets that elusive Super Bowl ring. This is a "one last shot" type of move for the Rams, and it could end up behooving Garrett above any other player on the roster— that's the final thing that Myles needs to truly cement himself as a hall-of-fame talent and all-time great.
