Three reasons Texas A&M football hype will go into overdrive: Defensive line domination

It’s no secret that the defensive line for Texas A&M will be a strong point. Despite looking in the portal for some depth along the interior, the top-line talent for the Aggies is second to none in the nation.

There are some who will not be able to play in the spring game due to injury, of course, who would otherwise be big contributors. Shemar Turner and Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy are two names that I don’t think we will see out on the field tomorrow. But there’s still plenty to get excited about.

How about Nic Scourton? The defensive end from Purdue who led the Big 10 in sacks last year is now donning the Maroon and White, and has drawn rave reviews during camp. This will be fans’ first glimpse of him in something approaching game action, and I predict he’ll make a splash play or two, good for a couple of eye-catching highlights.

And let’s not forget David Hicks. The five-star sophomore began to come into his own at the end of last year, and he is another one who those in the know have identified as a guy to watch this year. I think we’ll see him make a couple of plays along the interior of the line.

A sleeper to keep your eye on? Rylan Kennedy. Only a three-star last year, he nevertheless had A&M and Texas both vying hard for his signature near the end of the cycle, and he apparently has begun to parlay his supreme athletic gifts into some scary traits on the field. Watch #15 on the defense closely tomorrow.
