Injury report update for Texas A&M football vs. Florida: Aggies will be without several players, Conner Weigman questionable

Only 24 hours ago, when the initial injury report was released for Texas A&M football's game against the Florida Gators, things looked pretty rosy for the Ags. Only three names appeared on the report for the Maroon and White, while the Gators had a laundry list of players either out or questionable.

An update came down today, though, that has Aggie fans feeling quite a bit more concerned. First and foremost, A&M quarterback Conner Weigman was listed as questionable for the game.

Are the Aggies headed for a fifth straight year where a starting quarterback misses time? Fans sure hope that is not the case. If Weigman is unable to go, of course, Marcel Reed looks to be the backup, given the snaps he received against McNeese.

Two more names were added to the report aside from Conner's. DB Tyreek Chappell, who has been playing nickel thus far this year, was listed as out, as was safety Trey Jones III, the Central Michigan transfer.

Chappell was a starter over the last two games, while Jones was a rotation piece. He was a key one, but not a starter.

In Chappell's stead, the Aggies will turn to Florida transfer Jaydon Hill. Hill will have a little something extra going into this game after he was called out by his former teammate, so I have no doubt he's chomping at the bit to get out there and play anyway.

In the case of Jones, A&M will likely simply tighten up the safety rotation. The options they have there in Brooks and Anderson are great starters, and true freshman Myles Davis really flashed last week.

Here's hoping Conner is ready to go come Saturday in the swamp.
