Texas A&M football injury update: Which Aggies are unavailable after fall camp?

In recent years, injuries have tragically played far too big of a role in Texas A&M football's seasons. Especially at the quarterback position, the Aggies have lost players to injury at an extremely unfortunate rate dating all the way back to 2021.

Given that this affected the outcome of each season so much, many Aggie fans were ready to rush to pin this on one staffer or another. The offensive line coach was a common culprit when it came to quarterback injuries; the strength and conditioning coach was another target at times.

While these certainly may have played a part, I think it's hard to boil this down to one cause. Part of it was just some really poor luck, of course, especially when you think about Haynes King's injury in 2021.

With the advent of a new coaching staff in Aggieland, however, many of those complaints are gone. Of course, that will probably only last as long as key players remain uninjured, but at the moment, there's a distinct sense of hope in College Station.

Even so, there are still some players dealing with injuries at the moment. There are two really notable ones at the current moment: Jabre Barber and Rueben Owens.

As I've written about a couple of times already, Owens sustained a foot injury during the first scrimmage of fall camp and will presumably be out for the year. Elko mentioned that he could possibly return if the season were extended, but even that possibility seems a bit remote.

The other notable name on the shelf right now is Jabre Barber. The outlook was initially grim for the Troy transfer WR; thought to be a big piece of the battle at wide receiver, an injury in the spring looked like it may hold him out for the whole year.

However, it looks like Barber could be on the way back way quicker than we initially imagined; it's possible we see him before the season is halfway done, according to some rumors. That could be a huge boost to this receiver room if it comes to pass.

With only two injuries, this has been a relatively healthy fall camp. Hopefully, that trend continues into the year, and we see a full-strength Aggie team for the entire season.
