Power ranking the SEC after week 7: #14 - OU

This season is quite the welcome to the SEC for the Sooners. They’re happening to come into the conference in a pretty down year by the standards up they’ve got in Norman, and they’re getting exposed for it so far.

The offense is simply not yet mature enough, and the injuries are really holding the Sooners back at the moment. They actually had a superior success rate to the Longhorns in Red River, but a complete inability to make hay on passing downs meant that the Sooners were unable to keep drives alive.

Would that be helped if they had more of their receivers available? Maybe. But things just look far too disjointed on that side of the ball at this point.

OU has a dangerous game this weekend against South Carolina, who just pushed ‘Bama to the brink, right before they host the Tide themselves. The Gamecocks come in at both a letdown and a look-ahead spot for the Sooners, so they need to make sure they’re not taking anything for granted in this one.
