Texas A&M football fans were all understandably worried when their current top running back on the roster, Rueben Owens, limped off the field against LSU, not putting any weight on one of his legs. Though he hopped off rather than having to be helped off, it was still a scary sight given the fact that the Aggies are still without Le'Veon Moss for an extended period of time.
There was no update from Mike Elko in the immediate aftermath of Texas A&M's huge win over the LSU Tigers on Owens's status, and given that there is no press conference this week (since the Aggies have Saturday off), we didn't hear anything on Monday, either.
However, during the weekly SEC coaches' teleconference call, Elko provided a succinct yet encouraging update for Aggie fans. Especially with this extra week of rest, it seems like Owens will be good to take the field for the Aggies going forward.
Rueben Owens injury update: Mike Elko says "We're going to be fine" after lingering silence about Texas A&M RB
Asked about both Owens and OL Chase Bisontis, Elko had the following to say:

In regards to OL Chase Bisontis, Elko said, "He's great."
Bisontis had no visible injury during the gameβ at least nothing that stood out on the broadcast. Owens's news is quite welcome for Aggie fans, of course, since there has been some lingering concern over his status since the game.
Owens has had a breakout season for the Aggies this year, leading the Aggies with 440 total yards rushing, and a whopping 5.64 yards per carry. Freshman Jamarion Morrow is the only player with a better per-carry average on the year, averaging 5.74.
Moss is definitely the top back on this roster, but Owens is not far behind him. With Le'Veon still on the road to recovery, keeping Rueben healthy and playing is an imperative for this Aggie teamβ so this update from Mike Elko is exactly what fans wanted to hear.
