Texas A&M already named as leader for top overall transfer portal player

This could be absolutely massive for the Aggies in the upcoming year.

Cam Coleman's announcement that he was entering the transfer portal rocked the college football world yesterday, and fans of Texas A&M football immediately stepped up and took notice. This is a guy that was committed to the Aggies for a long period of time before eventually flipping to the Tigers only days before signing day in 2023, but while his individual talent has been evident at Auburn, he hasn't been putting up the numbers he's capable of.

That's mostly due to low-quality quarterback play on the Plains in the final two years of the Hugh Freeze era. While the Aggies are in the midst of their own quarterback issues thanks to a tough showing in the past two games, it's impossible to deny what KC Concepcion's transfer, in particular, did for his NFL draft prospects— add to that the fact that Coleman was committed to the Aggies for a long time and has a strong familiarity even with this new staff, and it should be no surprise that Texas A&M is already one of the top landing spots for the top player in the portal.

Texas A&M already listed as a top landing spot for Cam Coleman, top overall transfer player

Pro Football Focus College has listed the Aggies as one of three top spots for the former Tiger receiver.

Coleman is from Alabama, so it makes sense that they are also listed as a possible landing spot— but his lead recruiter in high school from the Tide, Holmon Wiggins, is now the Aggies' offensive coordinator, which is another point in A&M's favor. LSU, now helmed by Lane Kiffin, is going to be a popular pick for any portal player.

But it's the Aggies that are the clear choice of these three. Not only do the Aggies have a clear spot open for Coleman— which, to be fair, pretty much any school in the country would— but have a proven track record and the NIL chest to match anyone.
