Texas A&M commitment DeMarrion Johnson has shut down his recruitment in favor of the Aggies after a hard push from the Texas Longhorns fell short. Johnson was spotted on campus down in Austin recently as Texas attempted to pick up some momentum with the big offensive tackle from East Texas, but the Aggies got him back in College Station this weekend to great effect.

Johnson is the kind of guy that will continue to rise in the rankings as his senior season presses on— you only need to look at his stature next to Mike Elko in the above photo to see that his physical tools are unassailable.
Johnson is one piece of what could turn out to be a massive offensive line class for the Aggies in 2027. He was one of the first players to commit, and the Aggies are in on some major talent at the position along with him and their other OT commit, Kaeden Scott.
Texas A&M commit shuts down recruitment and rebuffs Longhorns' advances
Johnson is a top-100 recruit per 247Sports's in-house ratings, but his composite ranking is still a little lower than that. As other outlets catch up with just how good he can be, that number will look better and better.
Adam Cushing is really building a culture in College Station right now, as shown by how much that position group took the lead in this past season. With the transfers that the Aggies were able to bring in this past offseason at the position, they should have a great group up front once more.
Johnson is one piece of the puzzle, but the Aggies have some momentum with players like Kennedy Brown, Mark Matthews, Albert Simien, and Oluwasemilore Olubobola. Just to get a couple of those guys would make for an extremely intimidating offensive line group— and the Aggies could get even more if things go right.
