Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed has spent three seasons with the Aggies, and it wasn't until the 2025 season that he became the full-time starter. In his first season as the starter, Reed threw for 3,169 yards, had 25 passing touchdowns, 12 interceptions, and was huge in the run game with 493 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns.

When looking at a lot of quarterbacks who have become full-time starters in recent years, it certainly is a learning curve. Look at Arch Manning at Texas, DJ Lagway at Florida, and Avery Johnson at Kansas State; all of those guys struggled in their first season as the starter.

Reed not only found success in ways those guys couldn't in his first season as a starter, but he also led Texas A&M to their first-ever College Football Playoff appearance. Granted, his performance in the game was not his greatest, but now calling for him to be replaced is a mistake the Aggies and fans can't afford to make.

Fans calling Marcel Reed's replacement could send him to the transfer portal

In this day of college sports, a player can enter the transfer portal so easily, and if Texas A&M ans aren't careful, Reed could make the decision to do that. If he does that, then the Aggies could be in a really tough position on offense heading into next season.

The Aggies are already losing a couple of members on the staff, including offensive coordinator Collin Klein, whom Reed had a strong relationship with. Reed could choose to head somewhere else as not want to be with Texas A&M without Klein.

Fans just need to be careful how much they call for Reed's replacement because they could get what they want, and it could be even worse for the Aggies going forward.
