Texas A&M snags Jordan Shaw from Washington to answer much needed call for secondary depth

Texas A&M football just got themselves a gem in the portal.

After losing some defensive depth, they answered a plea from Aggie fans that was desperately needed.

With Will Lee III returning to College Station next season, this is a huge positive move for Mike Elko's secondary.

The Aggie secondary was pretty defeated after the USC loss in the Las Vegas Bowl. After missed tackles, poor coverage down the field, Shaw is exactly what the Aggies need to improve.

Shaw was a wideout and a safety out in high school. As someone who possesses proven versatility, Shaw will be a great piece to add. This is the next best news the Aggies could've hoped for in terms of their future defense in the past few days.

Washington had plenty of guys leave or enter the NFL following their championship run in 2023. Not to mention, their former head coach is now at Alabama, so this was an awkward time for Shaw to arrive at Washington. This a time for Shaw to reset and find a team that will work well for him.

Tyler Onyedim, the defensive tackle from Iowa State, stuffed his stat sheet during his time in Ames and adds some size and agility for the front seven. He'll be a great addition with three big Aggie defenders heading off to the NFL Draft.

Shaw is at 6-foot-1 and 173 pounds, about two inches shorter and a few pounds lighter than Lee III. Shaw could definitely work as a No. 3 option to guard the opposing receiver.

Either way, this is much needed for the Aggies and this is a great move by Texas A&M to give Shaw a chance, for hopefully a long time.
