Texas A&M football OL TJ Shanahan to hit transfer portal

The transfer portal is still hitting the Aggies.

On3 is reporting that freshman offensive lineman TJ Shanahan will transfer somewhere else for next season.

This comes as a bit of a surprise for Shanahan knowing the Aggies will have plenty of star power on their offense for a few seasons to come.

Shanahan, a freshman coming out Westlake High School in Austin, Texas, was known as the No. 1 offensive lineman in the Lone Star State by Rivals.

Shanahan did plenty of dirty work for the Aggies this year in five starts, including some snaps against Notre Dame, Florida and LSU.

This was a gift in the hands of Mike Elko, but this one just slipped out. Knowing that coming to Texas A&M is a competitive field in its own realm, nobody is safe these days. Just ask Conner Weigman.

Shanahan seems to have a bright future with wherever program he decides to go. The fact that Elko had trusted him in key games shows his potential. There were already plenty of offensive line health issues to begin the season, and Shanahan was just someone who wanted to prove he belonged.

The 6-foot-4, 330 pound offensive lineman will be someone heavily looked upon, knowing his resume already looks pretty good with some key reps.

There's no doubt that even some SEC schools will give him a look, but he's going to be an incoming sophomore with plenty of more action in front of him. Don't be surprised if he gets a shot at a blue blood school in the near future.
