Top-heavy draft for Texas A&M football results in litany of UDFAs despite three selections in first two rounds

Texas A&M football fans came into this NFL draft knowing that at least three of their players would be drafted. Shemar Stewart, Nic Scourton, and Shemar Turner were all locks to have their names called.

However, there were a few more departing players that were borderline for the Aggies. As it turns out, those three were the only ones who ended up being selected, and the other A&M NFL hopefuls will have to make their way up through the UDFA ranks.

Here's where every undrafted free agent from the Aggies is headed.

Jahdae Walker - Chicago Bears

A fan favorite over the last two years, one of the most reliable receivers on the Aggies is headed to join Shemar Turner in the Windy City. It would be awesome if Walker could break through and become a top weapon for Caleb Williams and the Bears, but he'll have a tough row to hoe with some of the receiver talent that Chicago has brought in.

BJ Mayes - Philadelphia Eagles

Mayes was a lovely surprise for the Aggies last year, coming on strong in the second half of the season after an injury held him back during fall camp and the first few games. His prowess at defensive back and positional versatility did a lot for him here.

He heads to the world champion Philadelphia Eagles to join up with Ainias Smith. Mayes is a guy that I think has a sneaky good shot to carve out a role for himself in the league.

Solomon DeShields - Indianapolis Colts

DeShields didn't get a lot of playing time after the emergence of Scooby Williams this past year, but he still was a contributor in key moments for the Aggies. He now is bound for Indianapolis to try to make an impact for the Colts.

He's got the athleticism to contribute, but he just needs a shot. Hopefully, he's chosen a great spot to do just that.

Tre Watson - Kansas City Chiefs

Watson, the transfer from Fresno State, is headed to KC to join up with the NFL's newest dynasty. After being a key player for the Aggies this past year, he may be catching passes from Patrick Mahomes next year.

Watson will have a lot of competition, but we know this offense likes to feature the tight end. If he improves as a blocker, he could have some staying power for Andy Reid's team.

Jaydon Hill - New York Giants

Hill is another DB transfer that spent 2024 with the Aggies. He is now bound for New York City, where he has accepted a minicamp invite with the Giants.
