Texas A&M has just made their second addition along the defensive front in as many days, as the Aggies have picked up a verbal commitment from San Diego State edge defender Ryan Henderson. Henderson, who has one year of eligibility remaining, tallied 9 tackles for loss and 7 sacks last year for the Aztecs.

Henderson was a coveted target in the transfer portal, but the Aggies were able to lock him down quickly, as the 6'3" and 250 LB pass rusher was on campus today. That is a testament to how efficient Elko and this staff have been at filling needs via the portal so far this cycle.

The Aggies are likely far from done when it comes to adding edge defenders, of course, as they lose a lot from that room this offseason. Not only will the Aggies be without Cashius Howell and Dayon Hayes this upcoming season, but Rylan Kennedy is also departing— today committing to the Florida State Seminoles— as well as thehihg-upside Solomon Williams.

Henderson is a step towards filling that need, but not the last step. The Aggies are taking a long look at Northwestern's Anto Saka, who was recently spotted on campus visiting Texas A&M, among other names.

This is a heck of a first step, though. Henderson brings experience and proven pass-rush ability to the Aggies, coming from a similar defense to what he'll be playing in under Mike Elko.

Texas A&M is still scorching hot in the portal and is hitting at quite a high clip with their visitors. Fans are extremely hopeful that the Ags can add one or both of Jacarrius Peak or Cam Coleman soon to give a couple of huge highlights to a portal haul that is already addressing a lot of big needs.
