Texas A&M is planning on wearing several alternate uniforms over the course of this season, some of which look like they will be more popular than others. The all-black uniforms that have become a yearly staple for the Aggies are going to return for Texas A&M's showdown with Tennessee, but it was also announced that A&M is going to wear something in celebration of the school's 150th anniversary for the Arkansas game.
When that news came down, there was immediately some speculation— given how it was announced— that this would be a corps-themed uniform, much like the basketball team did this past season. As more and more clues began to leak out, though, Aggie fans collectively got a sinking feeling: for as good as A&M has done with quality control on some of these alternates lately, it looked like the Ags were about to put out a real stinker.
Well, the official reveal is here, and the Aggie faithful can all now judge for themselves just how bad these actually are. While everyone has to end up making their own call on what they think of these, they certainly have gone over like a lead balloon with the general public.
Texas A&M's camo uniforms for Arkansas game go even worse than fans had feared
Here's how the look has turned out for the Aggies:

Let me say this: these actually do not look quite as bad as I thought that they would. That's a low bar, because I sort of thought that they were going to look absolutely terrible, but I think using the maroon pants and the camo helmet actually works a little better than had they gone full camo.
That said, they are still not all that good. And the sentiment of the college football public reflects that sentiment— and worse.

That's a pretty resounding condemnation from essentially all corners. There are quite a few Texas A&M fans who really are down on these uniforms as well, but that's not necessarily unanimous among the fanbase. See, Kellen Mond likes them!

SEC personality Vern Funquist delivered a pretty low blow to the Aggies' alternate here:
There’s a lot of low hanging fruit jokes that people make about A&M so I don’t want to pile on

But outside of Florida’s alligator skin uniforms these might be the worst college uniforms I’ve ever seen. https://t.co/LwHFagDFiW
Aggie fans remember just how bad those Florida uniforms were back in that 2017 game down in the Swamp— maybe one of the worst looks we've ever seen out of a college football team. I think it's probably not all that fair to compare these to those Florida uniforms, but it speaks to just how much some are reviling this look.
Look, at the end of the day, as long as the Aggies get the win, no one will really care all that much how the uniforms looked. There will be a day that those who decide they look awful will look back and laugh at them, but if the Aggies end up losing to Arkansas (who should be near the bottom of the SEC this year), then this will compound the pain.
Hopefully, the Aggies have something more on top of this for the celebration of the school's 150th anniversary— if this was the main event, it has sort of fallen flat.
