Texas A&M has just wrapped up their annual Maroon and White spring game, and there was a lot of good— and some definite bad as well. It was a more satisfying watch than the spring game has been in previous years in many ways, but there's also a looming issue that fans are very worried about.

What should fans take away from this game? Let's jump in and talk about it.

Texas A&M spring game takeaways: Daymion Sanford injury could be massive loss, but Mikhail gives reason for hope

Let's talk about the elephant in the room here: the injury to Daymion Sanford late in the first half completely took the wind out of Aggie fans' sails. The teams headed to the locker room even though there was still time left on the clock as the Aggie captain had to be carted off.

There's no official word yet on what exactly happened to Sanford (though it appeared to be an injury to his lower leg) nor a time frame on recovery, but having to bring the cart out and how solemnly it was treated gives Aggie fans a sinking feeling. Sanford was a popular pick for a breakout season after A&M lost their starting linebackers to the draft, so A&M fans everywhere are checking the two-deep to see who was behind him.

The good news is that Sanford has some time to recover before fall camp— and there is a big time player behind him to fill in in the meantime. Noah Mikhail flashed in a big way in this game, as expected.

Mikhail was another player who was expected to build on last year's results in a big way, as he saw the field as much as any true freshman. His highlights in this game gave A&M fans a shot of hope at the position— he and Sanford together would be massive, but Mikhail may have to go it alone at first.
