Texas A&M receiver KC Concepcion is a first-round hopeful for tonight's NFL Draft, but recent days have seen him trending downward for one reason or another. There have been purported on-field concerns, such as the apparent drops and injuries that Mel Kiper mentioned today— neither of which were a concern while he was at A&M, of course— but something else cropped up recently that deserves mention.
KC was known in College Station as the consummate professional and a leader in the locker room. He helped transform Texas A&M's passing attack in a huge way on the field, and was a valuable add to the culture off the field.
However, some anonymous reports of "concerns" regarding KC's maturity have begun to pop up in different circles, perhaps explaining why some draft experts have begun to slot him outside of the first round.
Supposed "maturity questions" about KC Concepcion have Texas A&M fans wondering what's going on
Albert Breer, an NFL Draft insider, recently mentioned a couple of players as having "maturity questions" surrounding them headed into this first round:

Maturity questions --
"There are a few talented guys where teams have had to dig through questions on maturity: Alabama OT Kadyn Proctor, Texas A&M WR KC Concepcion and Florida DT Caleb Banks...
He reiterates that sentiment in his most recent mock draft, where he does have Concepcion going 24th overall to the Browns. Breer has a good track record with his inside information, but this given how these concerns have apparently manifested out of thin air, it has Texas A&M fans wondering what the deal is.
Whatever the issue is, it likely is not with Breer's information— he wouldn't say that "teams" (as in multiple teams) have questions like this on Concepcion if he didn't have multiple sources confirming the same thing. It certainly has not come from Mike Elko or anyone on the Texas A&M staff— the Aggies have done nothing but boost KC headed into the draft, and there were never any such questions from his time in College Station.
This leaves two options— either KC held these issues back while in College Station and has all of a sudden begun to manifest them now (unlikely, given the heartwarming stories that have come out about him and things such as his recent piece in the Player's Tribune), or some other party— one who NFL teams would believe would know about KC— has been voicing these concerns.
There were definitely some hurt feelings in Raleigh once Concepcion decided to move on via the transfer portal, without a doubt. He was their best player, and he decided to test himself against the best in the SEC— but to the eyes of some associated with the Wolfpack, it could seem like scorning the team that initially believed in him.
Could it be that someone associated with NC State is spreading this sentiment about KC? It isn't a happy thing to think about, but given all the evidence, it seems like a conclusion that is hard to avoid. If so, that's a tough thing for a player that was nothing but great for the Aggies and has a very bright future ahead of him in the NFL. Hopefully, GMs will see through the smoke and make the right choice come draft time.
