Christmas may be over, but Texas A&M football's portal wish list still has items left

Even though December 25 is behind us, this Texas A&M football staff still has a few things left that they wished for.

Texas A&M football got most of what they needed this Christmas, but there's more to be had in the portal yet

This first portal window has yielded some great results so far for Texas A&M football. Micah Hudson and Mario Craver immediately upgrade the Aggies' wide receiver room in a big way, which was the most pressing need for this team.

Not far behind receiver was defensive end. With the way the Aggie DL sort of petered out as the year went on, not to mention what they were losing at the position, Texas A&M football needed to pick up some difference makers along the defensive line as well.

Elko did that in a big way, and all right in a row: the Ags snagged commitments from Samuel M'Pemba, a former five-star from UGA, and TJ Searcy, a projected starter for Florida, on the same day earlier this week. They joined Dayon Hayes, a highly productive player erstwhile of Colorado and Pitt, as DE pledges from the portal to the Ags.

This is not an exhaustive list of the Aggies' portal pickups, but they are impact additions at areas of need. That said, there's still a little more work to be done.

The Ags could still use another receiver to really revitalize that group. The word is, after star NC State receiver KC Concepcion visited College Station last week, that they are right in the thick of things for him. The Aggies need to lock him, or another player of his caliber, down if they truly want to transform that room.

Along the defensive line, as well, the Aggies could use a defensive tackle. They are in the running for former Iowa State DL Tyler Onyedim, an experienced and physical player originally from the Lone Star State. He projects as an interior guy, unlike the other pledges the Aggies currently have, and would really fit the bill for what they're seeking.

Texas A&M football has done great work so far— but there's still more to do. After this Christmas break concludes, I expect to see a few New Years' fireworks from Elko and his staff.
