Texas A&M is in the midst of their first of several huge official visit weekends over the course of the summer, and things are going swimmingly thus far. The Aggies are hosting more than just a few uncommitted five-star targets over the next couple of days, hoping to exit the weekend with a few more verbal pledges.
Among those targets is five-star corner John Meredith, the top defensive back in the nation. Meredith was once considered a heavy Aggie lean and A&M was clearly in the lead for quite some time, but recent weeks have seen the Longhorns make some major noise in this recruitment that has the Ags' confidence fading.
However, Texas A&M was able to get him on campus for this weekend, which is a big move for them in this one. The Aggie staff and current players all know how pressing it is to make this official visit weekend memorable— and one recently-released video shows them doing just that.
Texas A&M CB Brandon Arrington recruiting 5-star John Meredith as hard as he can
Last night, a video went up on the Instagram page for the young Texas A&M five-star cornerback, Brandon Arrington— a guy who will be pushing for starting time himself as a first-year player— where he's sending a clear message to Meredith: come join up with what Elko is building in College Station.

Aggie fans can only dream of what the pairing of Meredith and Arrington might look like on the football field. Suffice it to say, it would be one of the best corner tandems in the nation right from the get-go— these are both players who have first-round skillsets and physical profiles.
Arrington is doing what he can to sell Meredith on that vision, clearly. Getting them both in the maroon and white would be a massive building block for Mike Elko's defense, especially since the head man specializes in the defensive backfield.
Of course, even if things end up going the wrong way in this one, the Aggies are going to be set up very well when it comes to DB play. Texas A&M already has commitments from three five-star defensive backs in CB Raylaun Henry, S Kamarui Dorsey, and S Jayquan Snell that will go a long way.
Regardless of that, though, it has to be said that there are many in the A&M fanbase that view Meredith as the prize of this class. Losing out on him would be one thing— losing out on him to Texas would be another. The Longhorns clearly know the stakes of this recruitment and are intent upon doing everything they can to land Meredith; the Aggies' counterpunch this weekend needs to be effective.
It should be said as well that the Aggies are still very much right in the middle of things for the nation's no. 2-ranked corner in Joshua Dobson, out of Rock Hill, SC. Dobson and Meredith both would be huge pieces for this Texas A&M class to close out the defensive backfield, but that's all speculation until the commitment actually happens. Hopefully it will soon.
