Texas A&M Aggies news: Baseball reeling after key injury rocks fanbase, basketball looks to get back on track, and more

Here's your Texas A&M Aggies news for February 25, 2025.

Baseball looks to rebound from losses on the diamond and off

Texas A&M baseball suffered their first loss to a non-SEC team since mid-2023 this weekend when the Cal Poly Mustangs took a late lead to vanquish the Ags at Olsen. That was upsetting for fans to see, no doubt, but the Aggies remained in the top spot in the major polls.

The worst news from the weekend, however, was the loss of star sophomore Gavin Grahovac to season-ending surgery. Things hadn't looked right all year for the Aggie infielder, and he made the tough decision to choose a surgery that was no doubt best for his future.

That's a tough look for the baseball weekend, but there's still hope. Like I mentioned, the Ags still are atop the polls, and they have an extremely deep squad that they can choose a suitable replacement from to hopefully soften the blow of Grahovac's loss.

Despite losses, Texas A&M basketball remains in great position in latest bracketology

Texas A&M basketball had a rough week as well, losing both of their games. Mississippi State absolutely blitzed the Ags, and Tennessee pulled away late to down A&M when all was said and done.

Even so, the latest bracketology has the Aggies still predicted to get a top-3 seed, which is where I think they will eventually land. That will be possible even with a 2-2 record down the stretch, provided those losses come against Auburn and Florida (as is most likely).

As you'd expect, though, the Aggies slide in the latest AP Poll down to the 12th spot. Fans were not exactly thrilled with that development, even if it was expected.

Football setting up for huge spring full of visits

Mike Elko and company have Aggie recruiting rolling right now. The latest development is a visit from the nation's top wide receiver, who is pretty high on the Aggies at the moment.

The 2026 class looks like it will be a big cycle for the Aggies. Elko already has some heavy-hitters committed in the upcoming year, and they're on the list for some even bigger names.
