Recruiting is heating up for Aggie football.

Two young men went public earlier this week and made their commitments to the Texas A&M football team.

The four-star recruit Helaman Casuga shows he is a true athlete and can work well with Aggie culture.

Trashawn Ruffin joined Casuga in the recruitment business. Ruffin is a man who's wide at 300 pounds and is known to be one of the best run stoppers in the country.

But this means a lot more than just signings.

Mike Elko showing he wants to gain trust early

A new coach on a new team can be complicated.

Mike Elko instilling trust in these high schoolers in their junior year means a lot more than putting pen to paper.

One defensive lineman out of McKinney, TX just decommitted from Oklahoma State. Oklahoma State has a lot to deal with internally right now, but A&M doesn't look like that. Elko is showing that he will maintain a strong team for years to come with those commits trusting A&M culture.

Usually commits come from their home state, but Elko expanding his range is useful. After all, we can assume he knows a lot about North Carolina high school players. Usually, the reporters love to give attention to all the Texas, Florida, and California recruits, but the truth is the talent is all over the country. It's up to Elko and the coaching staff to get them ready for play.

That's why Casuga out of Provo, UT is a great pick for the Aggies. He's a true athlete, and he can depend on his legs if he needs to.

A&M has had success with big defensive lineman in the past, and this was a slam dunk of a signing. Ruffin out of Mount Olive in North Carolina is a big body who stops anything in his path. He's the 16th ranked recruit in North Carolina.

This is a victory for Elko and the Aggies because this shows he's expanding his range with the knowledge he already has of some of these high schoolers in North Carolina.

Because if we're going to be honest, if they had to choose between Duke, North Carolina, NC State or Texas A&M, I think we all know who has the upper hand here.
